Henry Street School Based Mental Health Clinic

Henry Street’s School Based Mental Health Clinic (SBMHC) provides mental health services to children and families in nine Lower East Side public schools – including our own PS/MS 140. Therapy is provided at the schools to serve the child and parent in their own community.

Screen Shot 2016-08-13 at 9.36.37 PMThe program’s highly trained clinicians provide culturall sensitive and child focused interventions on issues such as disruptive behavior at school or home, school truancy/avoidance, depression, anxiety, trauma, domestic violence, ADHD, mood disorders, learning disabilities, test taking anxiety, social skill deficits, oppositional behavior, divorce, adjustments to school or home, and other environmental or family stressors.

On Site Therapeutic Services
– Mental health screenings
– Individual, group and family therapy
– Therapy provided in English, Spanish and Mandarin

Referrals: Teachers, school support staff and caregivers may refer a child at any time by completing a referral form, available in the SBMHC office.

Fees: Many health insurance plans are accepted as payment. Assistance in helping families obtain insurance is also provided.
