Educational Alliance

Educational Alliance’s Afterschool Programs on the Lower East Side and East Village provide almost 1,900 youth a safe place to go during after school hours, including school holidays and summer.

At P.S. 140, children in grades K- 5 are involved in a wide range of activities, including arts and crafts, and community projects.

In additional to homework help, we encourage children to learn, be creative, work on their talents, and build self-confidence through dance, drama, yoga, cooking, and field trips to places like New York Hall of Science and Sony Wonder Lab.  Boys & Girls Clubs’ curriculum such as Triple Play, Passport to Manhood, Boy Chat/Girl Chat and Restorative Circle are used to teach healthy lifestyles, good character development and other skills important to being a responsible, complete person.  Learning about the importance of community service and protecting the environment are also emphasized at P.S. 140.  Recently, our literacy work with New York Cares, where volunteers read one-on-one to children, was highlighted in a nationally televised show on Corporation for Public Broadcasting.
